Speaking to Schools

In February 2008 Ann Maxwell visited Maidwell Hall a boy’s boarding school in Northampton, at the request of the headmaster Robert Lankester. The Muir Maxwell Trust is Maidwell Hall’s chosen charity for 2008.

The purpose of the visit was to talk to the boys for half an hour about the work of the Trust, relay the story of Muir Maxwell and explain about childhood epilepsy and its effects.

The details were given in simple terms and the talk was well received, provoking many thoughtful questions. The presentation concluded with a video all about Muir. The boys of Maidwell Hall are now committed to raising as much money as they can in support of children with epilepsy, for which we are extremely grateful.

With a better understanding of childhood epilepsy, the boys are able to communicate our plight to others and so contribute to our awareness campaign and help remove the stigma associated with epilepsy.

If you would like the Muir Maxwell Trust to present to your school about childhood epilepsy, we have some volunteer parents who would be delighted to share their story and help the pupils at your school in their understanding of this sometimes devastating neurological condition.
