The Maxwell's go to Athens in support of MMT!
The Muir Maxwell Trust will be one of a small number of children's charities and the only Scottish charity to benefit from the Marathon of Marathons.
Led by Campbell Lutyens and supported by the private equity community, 250 people are coming together to run the Marathon of Marathons in Athens on 31 October 2010, including MMT's founder and mother of Muir, Ann Maxwell. Also participating is Muir's father and brother Rory who will be there too to support the runners from the side lines..
The Marathon of Marathons is commemorating 2500 years since the Battle of Marathon and of Pheidippides' epic run in 490 bc to Athens with news of victory. The very name of this battle has been transformed into a synonym for athletic achievement and charitable action. The fundraising target is €2,500,000 which will benefit a small number of carefully selected children's charities, of which the Muir Maxwell Trust is one!
It will be a day the Maxwells will never forget as they follow in the very footsteps of Pheidippides from the battleground of Marathon to the triumphant Panathinaiko Stadium - home of the modern Olympic Games.
The ultimate MMT challenge for its co founder, Ann Maxwell who vowed, in 2008, never to run another marathon!
