And it really was the most beautiful night of the year. Hosted by Angela Rippon and Lorraine Chase and featuring Scottish Ballet as part of a line up of cabaret and fashion representing the world’s fashion capitals, the evening took Edinburgh to a new high.
Set in the exquisite Mansfield Traquair on a lovely summer’s evening with the scent of “Flowers by Maxwell” filling the air, Edinburgh, London, Paris, New York and Milan were represented on the catwalk by international designers carefully selected by Jane Davidson and interspersed with opera, cabaret and excerpts from Broadway musicals.
Tower Lighting contributed to a stage show second to none and the models, coiffeured by Charlie Miller’s design team, strutted the catwalk in everything from designer evening gowns to tantalising lingerie.
Meanwhile, a black-tie dinner was served by Edinburgh’s Michelin star chef Martin Wishart whilst MMT guests attempted to out-bid each other for designer handbags filled with exquisite goodies. But the highlight of the night as always was the MMT auction conducted by none other than Christopher Biggins and featuring diamonds by Laings the jeweller, five star holidays by Elegant Resorts and art by Anne Magill – to name but a few.
Our thanks to Susan and her team at Event Consultants Scotland Ltd and Lynne Dickson who always does our design work (and so much more) for our beautiful programme.
The evening raised over £300,000 and will be repeated at a future date so do watch this space!
