Prestonfield House Hotel, Edinburgh

2005’s celebrity packed Angel Ball at the Prestonfield House Hotel in Edinburgh raised a staggering £515,000. Set on a white stage with angels dangling from the roof top and white Christmas trees encrusted in snow and icicles everywhere, guests had never seen a setting quite like this at Prestonfield. Stephen Jardine and Kay Adams hosted the event and Nicola Benedetti provided the entertainment, along with the Scottish Ensemble, until the wee small hours when guests retired to the house and the mellow tones of Todd Gordon consumed the rest of the night.

Celebrity auctioneer Tim Wonnacott expertly managed furious bidding for the most covetable of prizes, including a private jet to Vienna for the weekend, a luxury holiday with Bulgari in Bali, deep sea diving with Oberoi hotels in Egypt, a rare pink diamond, a week on the World and so, so much more.

True to the MMT formula, a ladies Cartier diamond watch was the give away of the night, along with a BMW mini and a fantastic five star holiday to Dubai. But the highlight of this exquisite evening was the limited edition Angel Ball calendar for which the most money ever was paid - £15,000 - making it a Guinness World Record and our man from the “book” was there to verify it himself!!!!
