The Black and White Ball view photos

27 November 2004

The Savoy, London

Five hundred guests were uniquely accommodated in the Savoy in a bespoke black and white venue reminiscent of a bye-gone era. With black and white ostrich feathers, top hats, pink flamingos and pink feather boas, Lizzie Bell excelled herself with an interior unlike anything seen before in London’s Savoy Hotel.

And the guests wore black and white too: exquisite ball gowns sourced from the fashion capitals of the world for the occasion. Celebrity guests were in abundance with Christopher Biggins, Natasha Kaplinsky, Helen Worth, Anthony Andrews, Linda Bellingham and many more. Designer food, designer wines and designer prizes but before any of that the big screen told the story of Muir and children like him who are living in the residential centre at NCYPE.

The result was a staggering £550,000 in support of the cause. The money was raised by auctioning unique prizes – a private house party for a weekend at Kinnaird House Hotel in Perthshire, an Oberoi holiday in Mauritius, dinner for 10 at home by Michelin star chef Martin Wishart, your own seaplane over the Scottish lochs and Sunday lunch en route, not to mention diamond tennis bracelets and an Audi to give away as part of our unique prize draw. Is there any wonder the evening was a great success?

Hosted by Stephen Jardine and Sally Gray, the night was punctuated by classical entertainment from Nicola Benedetti, Julian Lloyd Webber and 10 Tenors Incognito who lifted the roof off the Savoy.

A night never to be forgotten!
