The film at the link below is about Muir and was made by some of the Muir Maxwell Trust's enthusiastic young supporters at St Andrews University. Muir is one of the 80,000 children living with epilepsy in the UK.
His favourite number is 8.
During the first week of December, to help children like Muir, the Muir Maxwell Trust invited donations of £8 as part of the Big Give's Christmas Challenge. In theory, every £8 donated would have secured a further £8 which would be released from matched funds made available by a combination of pledges donated by the Muir Maxwell Trust's major donors and the Big Give's Philanthropist Fund.
Sadly, the Big Give initiative didn't work for MMT, partly because the Big Give's website crashed and when it was up and running it was impossible for our hundreds of donors to log on before the larger charities mopped up the available matched funds with donations of £5000 a time. This initiative is not for charities pursuing lots of smaller donations and trying to spread awareness!
Apologies to all our supporters who tried so hard to make a donation via the Big Give website during that week. We shared your frustration!
All was not lost however as our young supporters who made the film redirected our donors to a Justgiving website where they could successfully make a donation, albeit without matched funds. Over £36,000 was raised for potentially life saving epilepsy alarms for children with epilepsy.
The site will remain open until end February for anyone who wishes to make a donation. Just click on the link below, watch the film and Don8!

Heartfelt thanks to everyone to date for your support and especially our major donors who made pledges that we were unable to mop up via the Big Give website during the Big Give week.
