Sad News From MMT

Damian Gormley has featured on our website since its launch and many of you will be familiar with his photograph.

Damian received an epilepsy alarm in 2006 and benefited from a diagnosis of Dravet Syndrome in 2007 as a consequence of the Trust's DNA service, based at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Glasgow.

Sadly, much of the help came for Damian too late and the early damage by epilepsy was profound. Damian passed away in February of this year aged just 17 years. Weakened by a cold and flu and recurrent seizures, he was admitted to Robin House Hospice and on this occasion, he didn't make it.

Damian is one of a number of beneficiaries that we have lost this year.  Each leaves us shocked and saddened and really highlights to us the importance of continuing our work to support families caring for children with epilepsy while seeking new methods of diagnosis and treatment.

We would like to extend our deepest condolences to Damian's family and to those others whose child has been taken by this devastating condition.

In Memory of Damian Gormley
