Once upon a time, not so very long ago, just last month in fact, a ball was had by many at the Savoy Hotel in London in support of the Muir Maxwell Trust. The evening was a resounding success, raising funds in excess of £425,000 to further the work of the Trust and for the Trust's new Epilepsy Centre. Our wonderful guests ate and were merry, dining like kings and dancing until dawn.
As the story teller of this fine tale, it is my privilege to convey heartfelt thanks to all who attended and who were enormously supportive of our cause for which we are eternally grateful.
Of course, it is always the sum of the parts that makes the whole and none of this would have been possible without the kindness and generosity of our donors and our sponsors of so many exquisite prizes. Every prize was quite amazing, there was something for everyone and this is reflected in the outstanding bids that each and every one achieved at auction on the night. There were many moments of frenzied bidding and the atmosphere was most exciting!
The event was supported by a cast of thousands and on behalf of the Trust, we are immensely grateful to everyone who participated in the finer detail that made this event possible. The story of Cinderella was quite beautifully produced by Emma Boardman of The Lovely Party Company. The Other Guys took the evening to a new high! Natasha Kaplinsky, Angela Rippon and Martin Bayfield as always the consummate professionals and Lizzie Bell's room decor will be remembered forever - the perfect fairytale setting!
There is a huge team behind the scenes that make these occasions possible, including MMT staff, some volunteers, Event Consultants Scotland, Tower, Freight Express, the Savoy Hotel and many more - too many to mention but they know who they are. It is a miracle that everything always seems to come together without a hitch. But that is what we strive for, not just a great fundraising result but a wonderful and memorable occasion for our loyal supporters and our very important guests, to enjoy.
On behalf of the Trust and all our children with epilepsy and their families, it is a huge privilege to convey an enormous thank you to everyone from the bottom of our hearts.
The Cinderella Ball was a resounding success because of you!
Ann Maxwell
