It gives us great pleasure to announce that on Friday 9th May our trustees agreed to a partnership with the University of Edinburgh College of Medicine to establish a centre of excellence in childhood epilepsy, focused on the translation of cutting-edge clinical research into tangible benefits for children and families.
The Muir Maxwell trust plans to spend £1 million over 5 years which will enable the establishment of a thriving research unit focused on the introduction of evidence-based improvements into clinical care.
The centre will be called the Muir Maxwell Trust Centre for Childhood Epilepsy and will be based at Little France campus; working alongside the Royal Hospital for Sick Children which will arrive on the same site in 2012.
This unique opportunity to partner a world class university in medicine, coupled with first class paediatric epilepsy services in NHS Lothian, will enable the Muir Maxwell Trust to make a real and lasting difference for children with epilepsy throughout the world.
