The Muir Maxwell Childhood Epilepsy Research Centre

In October 2009 the Trust announced a partnership with Edinburgh University College of Medicine to establish the Muir Maxwell Epilepsy Centre. The Centre will form part of the University's Neuroregenerative Medical Services, alongside the JK Rowling Research Centre for Multiple Sclerosis and the Euan McDonald Research Centre for Motor Neurone Disease.

This world class Centre will focus on cutting-edge research, translating it into tangible benefits for children with epilepsy and their familes. The Muir Maxwell Trust has pledged to raise £1 million in the next 5 years to assist with this project and the University are currently searching for a Chair of Paediatric Epilepsy to head up a research team.

Already the Trust has successfully raised substantial funds towards this very exciting project!

It is expected that real results will be achieved in a five year period enabling earlier intervention and prevention of some of the more complex and devastating childhood epilepsies.
