Mum on the Run for Epilepsy

This autumn we are launching a campaign called Mum on the Run for Epilepsy.  Our Co-Founder, Ann Maxwell, is running through Scotland and on the way visiting schools, businesses, clubs and voluntary organisations.

As well as spreading the word about epilepsy and its impact on family life, the campaign will hopefully raise much needed funds for the Muir Maxwell Trust to continue providing practical support to children with complex epilepsy and their families. It will also serve as a training programme for Ann for the Virgin Money London Marathon which will be the climax of our campaign year in April 2014.

As a small charity the Muir Maxwell Trust gets just one charity place every five years for the Virgin Money London marathon and 2014 is our year. In order to make the most of this much coveted charity place Ann has decided to run the London Marathon, in tandem with this ambitious campaign. The campaign is ambitious in another way too - in 2006 she was diagnosed with a brain tumour, bone cancer in her head which will never go away. You cannot see it but increasingly she is managing the consequences of cranial nerve damage affecting her hearing, vision, swallowing, breathing and heart rate to varying degrees.

In the New Year Ann will start her route down to London, calling in at many cities en route.

Check out the timetable for Ann's visits and if you would like her to visit your school, business, club, or voluntary organisation to spread the word please let us know.

If you would like to make a donation as part of this fundraising campaign please see the link below to our JustGiving page or if you are inspired to embrace a challenge of your own on our behalf please contact us and we will see how we can help.
