Clive Hopwood and Friends

London to Brussels Bike Ride 2010

I'm Clive Hopwood and the time has come for me to do something worthwhile and participate in a charity bike ride for a cause which is close to our family. Myself and five of my lifelong friends from Wales are part of a larger group of approximately 40, cycling from London to Brussels. The total distance is 300 miles. The route takes us from London to a ferry port on the southeast coast of Britain. Overnight ferry to Holland, on to Amsterdam, where we will go to bed early and not sample the delights of the city, honest. Then two days of cycling from Amsterdam to Brussels.

Any time you cycle 300 miles in four days, it becomes a serious ride. We all started training several months ago, putting in between 20 and 50 miles a week. We will increase this to between 50 and 100 miles a week as the date of the ride draws nearer. Healthy diet and nutrition have become an important part of our daily routines, and we have even cut back on our alcohol intake, a serious sacrifice in itself.

Thank you and well done Clive and all the boys, Stuart Reid, Ken Pugh, Neil Pugh, Bernard Cody, Andy Butts for completing such a mammoth cycle ride and for raising £2,469.43 in support of MMT. Thank you to you all and to your sponsors.
